Thailand for JMComm 2013

It has been way too long since my last post but life is busy. I visited my lovely grandparents in St. Joseph and had a fantastic time. I need to blog about that special visit soon.

We're (James and I) in Phuket, Thailand and the conference starts this morning. The resort we're staying in is on the Siray Bay so we snapped some lovely sunset shots last night. As with most of the East, the vegetation here is phenomenal.

After registration and a few morning sessions, James and I are going to visit the Big Buddha (marble statue on the hill side near Phuket) and Wat Chalong (Phuket's nicest temple). After I present my paper tomorrow, we'll go to Bangkok for a few days to explore.

The 20+ hours on flights over actually went well. I had lots of reading material for my dissertation proposal and we debriefed with spa treatments yesterday which helped loosen up our backs after sitting for so long. (The spa at Westin Siray Bay is worth every penny for specialized treatments such as Sole to Soul which included massage, reflexology and stretching.)

This is the view from the balcony of our suite of the property (owned by Starwoods). We also have a nice view of the bay. We're here at the end of the rainy season so we've seen some showers but the sun is out this morning and the birds are singing.
