Sushi Night at Nama

Wednesday, 22 September 2010

The seasons are changing and it is getting darker, earlier in Knoxville. I met up with friends on Monday to celebrate Nama's 1/2 price rolls special and I couldn't resist taking a shot of the JFG building with the sun setting. Nice lighting and you can see our tiny shadows on the bottom of the picture.

Bob, Dave and I went to the Crown and Goose for one drink out in the beer garden. The evenings are in the mid 70s and we enjoyed sitting outside and catching up. The three of us work together but in different departments so we don't always get to discuss anything besides work.

We then joined Ace at Nama on Gay Street. While the lighting was still interesting, I snapped a shot of the northern part of Gay Street - newly opened. The city did a great renovation project and the revitalization is appealing.

We shared a bottle of Italian white wine and ordered 6 different rolls. The picture shows the JG roll and the Makimoto roll. I think sushi could certainly double as works of art with the variety of colors, textures and shapes.

My favorite is the Soyjoy roll. Be sure to take advantage of the call-ahead seating on Monday nights at Nama. The downtown location (which is my favorite) is small and can get very crowded. We had a nice time catching up (Ace used to work at Channel 6) over good food and wine.

Denae,
Your photos make me miss Knoxville!
I love the Gay Street revitalization, too.
